Sick and Spam

I think the the boys and I have caught a bug, I felt bad last night, but I did get 8 hours of sleep, and I was still so tired today that I took 2 naps for over an hour each, very uncharacteristic of me, also Damien slept in, for several hours, and he was the first to fall asleep last night, and Damien almost never naps. Yesterday Sergey and Xavier were not feeling well, so I am hoping we are on the tail end of what ever it is, at least we are all sleeping through the night.

On the plus side I got my first chapter done in “Configuring Windows Server 2008 Active Directory”, The first 2/3rds of the chapter is a real slog, but once I got to the Lessons it seamed very straight forward, so here is hoping the rest of the book will be easier. Also it looks like I could change my certification to just Systems Administrator, and have fewer tests to take, or maybe that was just fewer required tests, with more elective, but still needing the same number of tests.

Damien was asking what “Spam” meant, so I decided to show him, and had him and Sergey watch the Monty Python Spam skit, which is where the reference comes from.

At first they were uninterested, but once it started playing they demanded that I start it from the beginning and be able to see it clearly.
In the end Sergey says he does not like Spam, and Damien walked out of the room singing the Spam song.

Musical Aptitude

Damien and Sergey like to sing, put them in a time out and they can while away the time singing ABCs, Spiderman, or Farmer in the Dell.

Sometimes they just like to sing, even if they are not in a time out, and it may even be something seasonal.

Grandma S. found this out first hand.

While helping get Damien ready for swim class, she took him in the girls locker room (location, location, location). Damien burst into song, singing Jingle Bells, with a big smile on his face. Accustics are very good in locker rooms, and Damien kept time with the music shaking his pienus and testicles. Well at least he was in a place where the proper audiance could be found in abundance.

Damien the Growler

Damien was trying to growl out alll of his words for some reason this morning.

So when Damien said good morning it came out as GrroOD MORrrrniNGrrrr.

When I was singing Old Mac Donald, Damien growled the animal noises as well, except for Monkey, they still just said Ooo Ooo, and Eee Eee. Damien’s pig said OrrinKrr instead of oink, and his horse said NEihairrrr, instead of neigh.

So I started adding soft spoken animals to the farm just to see how Damine would growl them.

Bird: tweet tweet became Twrreet Trwerreet.

Bee: buzz buzz became, Brruzz Brruzz.

Snake: hiss hiss became, hissr Hissssrrrrr.

Spiderman Song

When I put Damien down for the night I like to sing songs to him after a story.
I am trying to diversify with some fun songs, and I just found the lyrics to the old TV cartoon.

Sing a Song

Everyone should be able to sing at least one song to their kids.

Singing is important in mental development, for listening and speaking skills.

If you think you don’t know any songs your children would be interested in, then I’ll remind you of one of the top ten songs ever that I am sure you know the words to.

This is one of Damien’s most requested at night as I sing him to sleep.
It is also a song which teaches a great lesson that will help your child for the rest of his life.

Just in case you have forgotten the words I will include them below, but I am sure they will come back you after you sing the first three.

Because if you can’t remember this song there is probably something wrong with you or you are an alien (either kind)

Damien has been known to request this song over and over again, three to five times in a row is common.
